Men hvad er sikkerhedskritisk anvendelse, og hvor vigtigt er det at bruge ETA-godkendte betonankre?<\/p>\n<p>De europ\u00e6iske retningslinjer for teknisk godkendelse definerer sikkerhedskritiske applikationer som v\u00e6rende:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnvendelse, hvor svigt af et anker kan resultere i kollaps eller delvis kollaps af en struktur, for\u00e5rsage risiko for menneskeliv eller f\u00f8re til et betydeligt \u00f8konomisk tab\u201d <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-56690 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walraven.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/09\/Ducting-collapse-252x300.jpg\" alt=\"anchor failure\" width=\"252\" height=\"300\" \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I l\u00f8bet af det seneste \u00e5rti har der v\u00e6ret en r\u00e6kke st\u00f8rre installationsfejl, der har resulteret i alvorlig personskade og d\u00f8d. De mest almindelige \u00e5rsager til disse opst\u00e5r er:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>forkert valg af betonanker<\/li>\n<li>forkert installation<\/li>\n<li>Specifikations\u00e6ndringer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To help ensure this doesn\u2019t happen to you, it is useful to have an understanding of the relevant guidelines such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walraven.com\/en\/how-to-guides\/bs8539\/\">BS8539:2012<\/a> and what ETA approvals are. You can also read our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walraven.com\/en\/about-walraven\/news\/top-tips-for-installing-concrete-screws\/\">Top tips for installing concrete screws<\/a> here.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What can happen if fixings fail?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Here are a couple of examples from the CFA (Construction Fixings Association) of anchor failures causing serious injury and destruction.<\/p>\n<p>Failure can occur for a number of reasons including concrete cone failure, anchor pull out, bolt breakage and splitting.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-56765 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walraven.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/09\/anchor-failure-pics.jpg\" alt=\"anchor failure\" width=\"599\" height=\"228\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In light of these failures, the CFA introduced a set of guidelines, BS8539:2012 which is a standard Code of Practice for anchors. The overriding message from BS8539:2012 is that ETA approved anchors should be used wherever possible.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What is an ETA? <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-52601 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walraven.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2018\/06\/ETA-300x120.jpg\" alt=\"ETA\" width=\"300\" height=\"120\" \/><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>An ETA (European Technical Assessment) is a worldwide recognised framework for testing anchors, assessing and interpreting test results and publishing them in a standardised format. An ETA will set out what applications the anchor is suitable for, it\u2019s application limits, performance characteristics and how it should be installed.<\/p>\n<p>To gain an ETA, a product must have been rigorously tested to strict EU derived standards known as EADs (European Assessment Documents). Formerly ETAGs. For further information on EADs and ETA testing.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Why should you use ETA approved concrete screws? <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-56770 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walraven.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/09\/CS-ETA-install-snip-213x300.jpg\" alt=\"eta concrete screw\" width=\"213\" height=\"300\" \/><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Guarantee that the anchor will not fail,<\/strong> provided the anchor has been selected and installed as outlined in the ETA.\u00a0This means that the liabilities of the specifiers and installers are safeguarded and the installation will comply with BS8539.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anchor selection is made easier<\/strong> with ETAs. Design according to the relevant design method, along with software to guide the selection process, means that specifiers can be confident that the most suitable anchor has been chosen. This ensures economic design of anchors with an appropriate safety margin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Detailed installation instructions are provided<\/strong> in the ETA giving the contractor peace of mind that installation can be carried out correctly. Correct installation is paramount to avoid anchor failure in the future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Performance values of approved anchors can be relied upon.<\/strong> ETA approved anchors are also CE marked which means that the anchor delivered to the job site will have exactly the same performance values as those tested in the approval process.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Can anchors without an ETA be trusted? <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are many anchors on the market without ETA approvals. These products may have some performance data published by their manufacturer, supplier or distributor but can we trust this?<\/p>\n<p>The reality is that determining anchor performance is a complicated matter.\u00a0 ETA testing subjects anchoring products to a huge range of complex testing programs to ensure the safety and reliability of their performance in a multitude of situations. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-56769 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.walraven.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2020\/09\/CS-ETA-cover-image-210x300.jpg\" alt=\"eta concrete screw\" width=\"210\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Can you be sure that the testing on non-approved anchors has been carried out to the same stringent criteria? Can the product performance data be trusted?<\/p>\n<p>The truth is that we cannot be sure, and these products will not offer guarantees of performance in the same way an ETA approved anchor will.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;To use a non-approved anchor is a risk, and you must decide if it is one worth taking. For safety and peace of mind we would always recommend using E<\/em><em>TA approved anchors.
