Published on: 16 June 2022

Walraven is pleased and proud to have achieved accreditation from the Good Business Charter.  The GBC is an organisation that recognises responsible business practices. It measures behaviour over ten components:

  • Real living wage – a requirement that employers pay their employees the real living wage
  • Fairer hours and contracts – a fair approach to zero hours contracts and shift scheduling
  • Employee well-being – support and encourage employee well-being
  • Employee representation – encourage engagement of employees and ensure employees are fairly represented
  • Diversity and inclusion – requirement for businesses to monitor the diversity of their workforce, commit to closing the gender, disability and ethnicity pay gaps
  • Environmental responsibility – businesses should commit to an environmental policy to demonstrate they are committed to reducing their environmental impact
  • Paying fairer tax – businesses should commit to paying their taxes, not engage in tax avoidance and be transparent with HMRC
  • Commitment to customers – businesses should publish their commitment to their customers on their website
  • Ethical sourcing – businesses should commit to the standards set out in the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code
  • Prompt payment to suppliers – the GBC requires businesses to sign the government’s Prompt Payment Code

Walraven met all ten of these commitments to receive Good Business Charter accreditation.
