Job Description

Base: Walraven Ltd, Banbury

Accountable to: National Sales Manager, UK Management Team

Liaise; closely with all UK departments, Technical Sales Manager Europe, Group Technical and Product Management Personnel

Overall Objectives of this post

To work as part of the Walraven Ltd Banbury team providing comprehensive and effective service and support, for all UK technical enquiries.

This post demands organisational efficiency, maintaining a professional, safe and considerate approach at all times. Post holder will be responsible for estimating across the business, including but not limited to: calculation of cost prices for special production articles, estimates for special production runs, make / buy decision, technical drawings, support drawings for offers, creating product specifications. Supporting the internal and external sales teams with technical questions, customer and site visits, off site support and product advice.

The post requires an individual who is highly motivated and has the ability to structure and prioritise their own workload, cover for colleagues and communicate in a timely, clear and concise manner at all times.

To continually develop the necessary personal skills to undertake a wide range of tasks ensuring flexibility in the workplace.

To carry out any other duties as required by the National Sales Manager/Technical Sales Manager Europe and/or UK Management Team

Thorough training on all tasks, will be provided by the company where required

Occasional fully expensed UK travel to attend site and off site meetings

Occasional fully expensed oversees travel to attend training and/or meetings with Group colleagues

Responsibilities for Health & Safety

The post holder is responsible for ensuring that all duties and responsibilities of this post are carried out in compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, Statutory Regulations and Walraven’s Policies and Procedures. This will be supported by the provision of training and specialist advice where required.

This Job description is not intended to be exhaustive. The post holder will be expected to adopt a flexible attitude to the duties and location of work, which may have to be varied subject to the needs of the Company and in keeping with the general profile of the post. This may entail some work outside office hours.

Personnel Specification


Educational achievements, qualifications and training: Sound educational background to include GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths, capability in Solidworks or other bespoke CAD packages.  Previous construction knowledge gained through relevant employment and a driving license would be desirable but not essential.

Job related aptitude and skills: Excellent inter-personal skills, ability to prioritise workloads and recognize urgent situations, attention to detail, project management skills and the ability to produce accurate work to tight deadlines.

Personal Qualities: Reliable, self-motivated, with the ability to work as part of a team, common sense, honesty and confidence in self to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers alike. Capable of using initiative, and an understanding of limitations.
