Walraven Phenblox insulated pipe support

Thinking about using  Walraven Phenblox®?

Have a look at some quick FAQs to help you decide

Is Walraven Phenblox® suitable for sustainability-focused projects?

Yes. Properly insulating pipe support points helps reduce unwanted heat loss and heat gain, improving the overall energy efficiency of the pipework system. In addition, phenolic materials are durable, corrosion-resistant, and recyclable, supporting long-term building performance and resource efficiency.

Can Walraven Phenblox® be used with copper pipes?

Yes. Walraven Phenblox® includes a special coating on the inner bore that helps protect copper pipes against corrosion. This makes it suitable for insulated copper pipework when used in accordance with the relevant project and product requirements.

Which Walraven pipe clamp should I combine with Phenblox?

Walraven Phenblox® is tested for compatibility with Walraven unlined pipe clamp ranges. The appropriate combination depends on the pipe diameter, insulation thickness and required load-bearing capacity.

Even when pipes are properly insulated, support points can interrupt the insulation layer. Direct contact between a pipe and a metal clamp creates a path for thermal transfer, which can increase heat loss or heat gain and reduce overall installation efficiency.

Walraven Phenblox® places a high-density phenolic insulation block between the pipe and the clamp. Its low thermal conductivity reduces heat transfer, while the block provides the load-bearing support needed to hold the pipe securely. This lets installers and specifiers consider insulation and structural support together, rather than treating them as separate parts of the installation.

For below-ambient services, vapour-barrier continuity is particularly important. The foil covering, closed-cell structure, and stepped joint help resist moisture and seal the insulation layer around the support point. This helps reduce the risk of condensation affecting the pipe or surrounding installation.

Not all insulated pipe supports deliver the same long-term performance. Choosing the right solution can help improve energy efficiency, durability and reliability throughout the lifetime of the installation.

Compared with traditional wood supports, phenolic foam offers better thermal insulation and greater resistance to moisture absorption, helping maintain performance over time. Compared with mineral wool, its lower thermal conductivity can allow similar insulation performance to be achieved with a thinner support block.

By combining thermal performance, moisture resistance and load-bearing capability in a single solution, Walraven Phenblox® helps installers and specifiers create insulated pipe support systems that perform reliably for years to come.
