When renewable energy specialist RTS Srl required two bespoke heavy-duty support frames for a project in Milan, Italy, they turned to Walraven for a solution that could address complex installation requirements while meeting tight project timelines.
The project involved two heavy-duty support structures for HVAC and pipework installations, each with specific structural and logistical challenges.
The solution needed to account for:
Traditional welded steel structures were considered but proved impractical due to installation complexity and project timescales. RTS Srl therefore required a flexible and engineered alternative that could be delivered and assembled efficiently.
Walraven proposed a bespoke solution using the Walraven Maxx system, providing the strength, flexibility and modularity required for both installations.
The first structure was designed to support pipework above a large HVAC unit measuring 9 metres long, 5 metres wide and 3 metres high.
Using a combination of Walraven Maxx 150 and Maxx 120 profiles, Walraven developed a robust support frame tailored to the available space and project requirements. The design also accounted for wind and snow loads to ensure long-term structural reliability.
The second structure involved supporting a 3-ton HVAC unit measuring 2 × 2 metres at a height of 3 metres above ground level, while also providing a surrounding maintenance walkway.
To achieve this, Walraven combined the Walraven Maxx system for the primary load-bearing structure with the Walraven RapidStrut® system to support the routing of pipes and cables. The result was a safe, stable and easy-to-install solution that also provided convenient maintenance access.
By using Walraven Maxx and RapidStrut® systems, RTS Srl was able to complete both installations efficiently while meeting all structural and safety requirements. Working with a single supplier for both the support structures and technical expertise helped streamline the project, resulting in a high-quality installation that combined flexibility, safety and ease of assembly.
