Avoiding roof penetration for rooftop ventilation installations
As part of the expansion of the Kaserne military facility in Varces, France, avoiding roof penetration was essential when installing rooftop ventilation systems on three new buildings. Walraven developed a support solution that protected the roof structure while providing reliable support for the technical installations.
Protecting the roof structure
The main challenge was to install the rooftop ventilation infrastructure without damaging the waterproof roof membrane or the roof structure.
The solution had to provide reliable support for ventilation pipes and air ducts while maintaining roof integrity. It also needed to comply with the project’s strict requirements.
Non-penetrating rooftop solution
Walraven was selected to provide a solution based on Walraven Yeti® support feet, including insulation mats to protect the roof surface.
In addition to the rooftop support structures, Walraven supplied complete support systems for the ventilation pipework and air ducts. The solution provided stable support without requiring penetration of the roof membrane.
Delivering under strict site conditions
Due to the high-security nature of the military facility, access to the construction site was limited and installation had to be completed within a short timeframe.
Despite these constraints, the project was successfully delivered using a solution tailored to the site’s requirements.
Supporting rooftop installations safely
By combining Walraven Yeti® support systems with dedicated supports for ventilation services, Walraven provided a practical and roof-friendly solution for the new buildings.
The result is a reliable rooftop installation that protects the waterproof roof layer while providing secure support for ventilation pipes, air ducts and related rooftop equipment.
