The Dutch government has included in the XYZ Regulation 2012 provisions on fire safety. The aim is to prevent casualties and prevent the fire from spreading to another section.

Through the increased fire protection in buildings, the people who live and work in the property have more time to get themselves to safety in case of fire. Additionally the fire department has more time to extinguish the fire, especially when it remains within a closed fire compartment.
