Indoor electrical fixings

Fast and reliable installations

Electrical first fix lays the foundation for safe and reliable electrical installations. Walraven offers fast, reliable first-fix solutions for securing cable, conduit, containment and electrical boxes across the building structure.

How can we simplify electrical first fix?

Electrical first fix is the stage of an installation where cables, containment systems and accessories are installed before walls and ceilings are closed up. It typically includes routing and securing cables, installing cable tray, basket or conduit systems, and fitting back boxes ready for second-fix accessories such as sockets, switches and data outlets.

The process often presents a range of practical challenges. Cables and containment must be securely supported from structural elements such as beams and purlins without compromising the building fabric, while cable trays and baskets need to be installed level, aligned and capable of carrying the required loads. Within stud walls, back boxes must be accurately positioned and securely fixed to ensure a professional finish and trouble-free second fix.

Walraven solutions include Britclips® spring-steel fixings for cable management, the RSWB adjustable bracket (metal noggin) for fast back-box fixing, the starQuick® clamp system for conduit clipping and Walraven RapidRail system for supporting cable tray.

Structural steel: beam clips & clamps

Fix directly to a beam flange without welding or drilling. Choose from standalone clips or combinations prepared for cable ties, conduit, threaded rod and light-duty cable tray support

Roof purlins: profile specific hangers

Support services from vertical, Z-shaped, angled or 90-degree purlin profiles. Options are available for threaded rod, chain, hooks and direct service fixing.

Decking: hangers dovetail fixings

Use wedge nuts or deck hangers where threaded rod suspension is required, or dovetail cable fixings for quick cable and conduit runs. Always match the fixing to the exact deck profile.

 Electrical first fix applications

Mount electrical boxes

The Walraven RSWB (Rapid Sliding Wall Bracket) is an extendable pre-galvanised steel support for fast-fitting of electrical boxes and conduit between wood or metal studs. The adjustable metal bracket eliminates the need to cut and fit traditional wooden noggins, saving valuable on-site installation time.

  • Available in two adjustable lengths
  • Multiple mounting depths
  • Can fit to wood or metal framing

Secure conduit

If you need to secure conduit to structural elements such as beams or purlins, the Britclips® range includes a wide selection of beam and purlin clips with conduit clip attachments. For clipping conduit in stud walls or on other surfaces, the Walraven starQuick® plastic clip offers quick and easy fixing.

  • Wide range of beam and purlin clips for securing conduit
  • starQuick® plastic clip sizes from 10 to 65 mm
  •  Versatile supports for conduit

Support cable containment

Cable containment systems are typically suspended from the structure using threaded rod, brackets or trapeze supports. Walraven options include Britclips® beam clips with threaded rod hanger combinations, or the Britclips® Utility Clip Light Duty Cable Tray Bracket. For trapeze frame support we recommend Walraven RapidRail® Light-duty Channel system for strong support.

  • Use Britclips supports for lightweight installs
  • Walraven RapidRail® System for trapeze hangers
  • Strong, reliable support options

Confirm the substrate

Identify the beam flange, purlin, deck profile, studwork, wall, ceiling or support system.

Define the connection

Decide whether the service needs direct clipping, cable tie, saddle, threaded rod, hook or chain.

Verify the article

Check dimensions, orientation, maximum allowed load and installation instructions for the exact product.

Check project requirements

Confirm environmental exposure, fire-safety needs, local rules and market-specific product availability.
