Walraven Yeti® 480 Support System
for Rooftop Installations
I0405

IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Centre in Ostrava, Czechia, required a specialist support solution for its cooling and fire protection systems. Walraven developed a non-penetrating support frame for the cooling distribution system to protect the building’s unique construction while providing reliable support for critical services.
A key challenge of the project was the use of conductive concrete throughout the building. This material protects the facility from electromagnetic interference and therefore could not be penetrated under any circumstances. As a result, the project required a support solution that was not anchored into the concrete structure.
The system also needed to support:
Walraven recommended a combination of Walraven Yeti® rooftop support systems and Walraven RapidStrut® channels to create a fully anchorless support structure.
The solution enabled the cooling distribution system to be secured without penetrating the conductive concrete, while providing the strength and flexibility required for the various mechanical services throughout the facility.
One of the key advantages of the design was its versatility. The same solution was used beneath the raised floor in the data hall, in the cooling machinery room and on the roof, eliminating the need for separate support systems for indoor and outdoor applications. This is thanks to the Walraven BIS UltraProtect® 1000 corrosion protection on the channel system and the certifications on the Walraven Yeti® feet, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments.
By combining Walraven Yeti® and RapidStrut® systems, the project team delivered a practical and reliable support solution that met the facility’s stringent technical requirements while preserving the integrity of the building’s electromagnetic shielding.
The result is a flexible and future-proof installation that supports the cooling and fire protection infrastructure essential to one of the Czech Republic’s leading supercomputing facilities.
