Published on: 16 June 2025

walraven_sustainability_report_2024Walraven is proud to present its 2024 Sustainability Report, showcasing our progress in our journey to create sustainable value for the people, the planet, and our business. This year’s report reflects our deepened commitment to transparency, innovation, and long-term impact, aligned with our purpose: “We believe we can make a sustainable difference by building a multinational with a heart.”

Key Highlights from the 2024 Report

  • Advancing Climate Action: We completed a full Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas assessment in partnership with Greenly, laying the groundwork for science-aligned targets and a climate transition plan in 2025. Despite expanding our reporting scope, we reduced Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 13% and 7%, respectively.
  • Responsible Products and Innovation: We launched our first Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for key product lines, including Walraven RapidRail®, RapidStrut®, and Maxx Heavy Rail Profile. These declarations support our customers in making informed, sustainable choices.
  • People at the Heart: We continued to invest in our people, with initiatives like the OpenUp mental health program, expanded leadership development, and a renewed focus on diversity and inclusion. Our workforce now spans 1,351 employees across 20 countries.
  • Sustainable Supply Chain: We strengthened our due diligence processes, particularly in high-risk regions, and increased supplier engagement through SEDEX. Our goal is to have 70% of our direct material suppliers enrolled by the end of 2025.
  • EcoVadis Recognition: EcoVadis recognised our efforts with a Bronze Medal, placing us among the top 35% of rated companies globally.

Looking Ahead

As a family-owned company with over 80 years of history, long-term thinking is in our DNA. We are actively preparing for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), using it as a catalyst to improve data quality, stakeholder engagement, and strategic alignment.

“Sustainability is not a destination, but a continuous journey. We are proud of our progress and remain committed to working with our partners, customers, and employees to build a better future,” said Astrid van der Horst, Group Director People, Organisation & Sustainability.
