We were commissioned to work on a project for a technical plant measuring approximately 750 m², through which trays, pipes and ducts ran. Our Technical Department, together with Carla Coca from “Construcciones Carlos Rubio e Hijos”, carried out the study, including the necessary designs and calculations, to provide the best solution.

Requirements

  • Safety walkways covering the entire route to provide access to all facilities and thus enable maintenance work to be carried out.
  • Over 100 metres of maintenance walkways at different levels.
  • Attachment to the existing structure to avoid the need for supports on the raised floor.
  • The challenge was to design a complex framework using omega profiles as the sole means of support.

Solution

For the installation of the maintenance walkways on the technical floor, Walraven designed and supplied a safety walkway system comprising the following components:

  • Walraven RapidStrut® Fixing Rail
  • Strut range components (accessories)
  • Walraven Yeti® walkway step – grating platform
  • Walraven Yeti® 335 – Support system

There are omega brackets to which the raised access floor panels are fixed. The omega brackets are suspended from the main structure by means of rods.

Thanks to our roof support systems, we were able to carry out the installation without drilling any holes in the raised access floor.

Key points
  • Adaptation to the load-bearing structure (which can support loads) available
  • Complex route due to the layout of existing installations
  • The varying height levels along the walkway
  • Flawless execution by “Construcciones Carlos Rubio e Hijos”, in accordance with the end customer’s requirements and the technical department’s instructions.
