Mechanical Test Engineer (full-time)

Precise – practical – analytical

In this role you are part of the Research Department and you support the different disciplines such as Product Development, Product Management, Sales, Sourcing and Production with the validation and testing of end products, concepts, components or assemblies.

The Research Department performs testing in three different laboratory areas, where we perform mechanical, corrosion and fire tests according to our own and international guidelines and standards:

• Mechanical Testing – Build up and create test set ups for testing and perform tests on one of the two tensile test machines
• Salt Spray Lab – Prepare test schedules, perform inspections and deliver Salt Spray test reports
• Fire Lab – To perform internal tests on our current or concept fire protection products.

The Research Department is an innovative part of Walraven Europe and therefore is always moving with the development within our company and the market, making this a job which is constantly evolving into new disciplines.

What is expected within this position?

• Produce test results and communicate to stakeholders by means of written test reports. This includes offering advice and recommendations about possible improvements.
• Assist in developing new test methods to test products that do not have current international standardized test methods.
• General maintenance and operation of our machines
• Prepare test schedules and perform inspections
• Building up of the test setups to specification, as well as clearing and dismantling
• Performing tests on your own
• Assisting in performing testing according to standards as an observer or safety coordinator
• Part of the job is to support test at external locations, this leads to traveling for a test roughly 3 times per year.

What makes you the ideal candidate?

• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Basic reporting skills
• Practical ability, able to use hand and electric tools
• Familiarity with testing techniques or ability to quickly learn testing techniques
• A “Technical” mindset, a broad knowledge of mechanics and/or chemistry
• Good troubleshooting skills
• An analytic mindset, able to see deviations from the expected result and report back
• Adaptability, able to perform well in many different functions
• You speak and write EN, NL is preferred additionally
