As project leader at Advisory Bureau J. Vriesema, I was involved in the TLR project from the very first moment to the handover. My role was mainly in construction supervision and engineering, where I worked closely with various parties. During the project, we faced significant challenges, such as the load-bearing capacity of the roof. That required custom solutions and flexibility.
I experienced the collaboration with Walraven as positive. There were differences between the architectural and civil starting points, especially in terms of structural safety and the verifiability of calculations. Nevertheless, we managed to find solutions together, mainly thanks to the prefabricated approach. As a result, many issues could be addressed in advance, and execution on site was greatly accelerated. This not only saved time but also made the process safer and more manageable. The installation was thoroughly prepared and checked, with Walraven already critically reviewing (themselves) and highlighting points of attention in good time.
The use of digital technologies such as 3D visualisation was a valuable addition, although the impact for me personally was less than, for instance, clash detection for an entire building. The Walraven channel system stood out positively due to its modular design and clear documentation, including EPDs and the 3D model for the handover file. This ensures that everything can be properly handed over and that installations will last for years.
The most important result is that maintenance on the heat pumps can now take place safely and efficiently. I definitely see opportunities to apply this working method and modular solutions more often in the future, especially as this improves the speed and quality of construction.
