Thanks to Inside Out, the solar module “Alpha” product supplier, no less than 130 homes on Van de Veldelaan in Alkmaar are now equipped with solar panels. The frames with solar panels, which were prefabricated in collaboration with Walraven, have been placed on the roof of the Noordertogt apartment building. The aim was to transform the existing structure into an energy-positive building. After an intensive engineering process, a suitable and sustainable solution was offered using a combination of Walraven products.
Inside Out supplied the solar module “Alpha”, the battery packs, and a sustainable heat supply in this renovation project. Bos Daktechniek and various subcontractors carried out the installation. An important requirement was that the residents could stay in their homes during the renovation. Therefore, a quick installation procedure (only a few weeks) was one of the most critical requirements.
In that way, the Walraven prefabrication solution was a logical choice. The prefabricated frames were ready and equipped with solar panels delivered directly at the construction site, allowing for the daily mounting of up to one hundred complete panels.
Walraven was happy to accept the challenge, and after validating the construction on site, the Walraven engineers designed a frameset consisting of Walraven RapidStrut® Mounting Rail and DobyGrip for additional security feet to install a total of 816 panels. To meet the fast installation criteria, the frames were prefabricated, including the solar panels, and delivered directly to the construction site, allowing the onsite team to install up to one hundred panels a day.
